Nothing on Earth: Finding Contentment in a World of Comparison

Everywhere we look, we see people who seem thinner, richer, or more successful than ourselves.  When we compare ourselves to others, we often feel discontentment, self-loathing, or even self-righteousness.  In this three-week series on the 73rd Psalm, we will discover that contentment cannot be found by measuring our lives against the models on TV or our friends on social networks.  True contentment is not found on Earth, but in Heaven, where our real treasure is.  Finding fortune there can brings us lasting contentment here.

November 22 @ 7pm

Decemer 9 @ 4pm

Join us as Pastor Chuck will give a short homily on I Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Give Thanks in All Circumstances." We will have a special treat of being led in worship by Katie Nelson Troyer, who will be joined by her father, Jeff Nelson, who is also a worship leader. Join us as we also sing the Thanksgiving favorite, Great is Thy Faithfulness, as Leon Reid leads us on the organ. The evening will finish with a time to verbalize our thanksgiving to the Lord.

This is a perfect way to lead yourself and your family into Thanksgiving mindset for Thursday celebration. Child care will be provided for nursery and toddlers.

Christmas is a time that provides several opportunitits to attend events that feature seaonal music.  This year's Christmas Concert at Stanwich Church will occur on Saturday, December 9 at 4pm, in the sanctuary at the Greenwich Campus.  The concert will feature the Stanwich Church Adult Choir singing various Advent and Christmas anthems, vocal and instrumental solos and duets, and congregational singing of Christmas carols.

There will be a reception in Emmaus Hall following the concert.  We need volunteers to help set up and clean up in addition to bring cookies and cold appetizers.  Please email Genie Wells if you are able to help in any of these areas.
