SUNDAYS AT STANWICH
We invite you to visit Stanwich to experience for yourself our joyful worship services. The styles and music vary, but all services reflect our core worship values to draw us closer to God and each other through:
- a warm, friendly atmosphere
- reverent worship
- a dedication to the teachings of Jesus and the Bible
- a deep belief in the power of prayer
- great music and enthusiastic praise in song
We know that first-time visitors may have several questions. Here is a brief
summary of what to expect.
Sunday Morning Services
Our morning worship services are the same except for the style of music.
The 9 AM service includes organ music, choir and traditional hymns.
The 10:45 AM service music is less formal, featuring a keyboard, guitar,
violin, and male and female singers. At both services, children 3 years and
older stay with their families in the sanctuary for the first few minutes, singing
a hymn and praise song, and reading the unison prayers together. Then the
children are invited to the front of the church to listen to a brief junior sermon, after which they are led out to Sunday School. The remainder of the worship service includes readings from the Bible, silent and pastor-led prayers, sermon,
communion, closing hymn/song and benediction.
A “coffee hour” follows each service so our worshippers can visit and get to know
one other better while sharing refreshments in a relaxed, informal setting.
Evensong Service
This innovative worship service on Sunday evenings at 5:30 PM features modern music played by the Evensong band. Though initially conceived for younger worshippers, Evensong now attracts people of all ages who are seeking an alternative to traditional worship services. Please visit the Evensong community page to learn more about Evensong.
Children’s Programs
Sunday school classes are provided for children in pre-school through 8th grade
at both morning services, and through 6th grade during the Evensong service. A nursery for infants and younger children is offered at all three services. Vibrating pagers are available so that parents can be notified quickly and quietly if their child needs their attention during the service.
What to Wear
Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Our worshippers wear everything from casual attire to business suits.
