STANWICH FORUM

“Whoever gives heed

to instruction prospers,

and blessed is he who

trusts in the LORD."

Proverbs 16:20

The Stanwich Forum is a collection of educational classes, seminars and events designed to help people grow in their knowledge and experience of God.  Each explores a different aspect of the Christian life and is open to

everyone.  Some of our more popular offerings are listed below.  Please

check the News & Events page or contact Program Administrator Genie Wells to find out specific dates and more information.

Alpha

Is there a God?  Why am I here?  Who is Jesus?  What about other religions?  Alpha tackles these and other questions each week.  Alpha is a

10-week course that introduces the basics of Christianity and offers the opportunity to explore the validity and relevance of the Christian faith in our

lives today.  Each session includes a teaching followed by a small-group discussion in an informal setting.  Everyone is invited no matter what their background or viewpoint.

Soma

On Wednesday evenings Stanwich offers a series of teachings and Bible studies.  The name of this mid-week gathering is Soma, from the Greek word for body, in reference to the body of Christ which is the Church.  The evening

begins with a light meal, followed by 30 minutes of teaching, break-out into small groups for discussion, and then regrouping for a final review and blessing.  For information about the current Soma series, please check the Seminars and Bible Studies page.

Vocational Next Steps

Next Steps offers vocational help and counsel to people who are at a transition point in their lives.  The program uses reflection and outside feedback to assist people on their journey in the following areas:

  • Career - for people just starting out and thinking through what education or training they might need, or those who have finished their education and are wondering where to begin.
  • Transition - for people leaving a job or career in search of another.
  • Legacy - for people who have found a level of financial stability and are looking to transition into a Kingdom investment for their next vocational stage.

More details about the Next Steps program are available in the Next Steps brochure

Spiritual Gifts Discovery

Ever wonder what it would be like if you could do something that you really wanted to do, do it well, and make a real difference?  The Spiritual Gifts Discovery course can help you do that.  It explains what spiritual gifts are and how God desires to use our lives in these unique ways.  The 3-session course also includes an individual spiritual gifts inventory and consultation to review your unique combination of spiritual gifts and identify ways you can use them to glorify God.

Omega

Omega is a course designed to help people understand how to live the Christian faith.  Omega deals with questions such as:

   -  How do I maximize my life experience?

   -  What can I expect from a life of discipleship?

   -  How do I focus my life in order to make real changes and experience

God’s transforming power in my life?

   -  How do I put all of the pieces of life together and seek God’s guidance

in order to know and do His will for my life?

   -  What is God’s priority scale and value system for my life?

Boundaries

This seminar provides guidance in understanding how to have Biblical relationships with one another.  This seminar examines the 10 Laws of Boundaries, looks at myths about boundaries, and discusses ways to set boundaries with one another.

The Da Vinci Code

This novel has stirred controversy worldwide due to misrepresentation about what is fact and what is fiction.  This 4-part series examines the history of Christianity and the formation of the Bible, to replace misinformation with factual history and accurate teaching.
