COMMUNICATIONS & OTHER
Communications
This ministry comprises both internal and external communications of the
church, including:
- Update, a weekly newsletter sent via email;
- The Banner, a monthly printed publication;
- publicity in the local news media; and
- the Stanwich web site.
Volunteers are needed to gather and coordinate information, write feature stories, design layouts and update the web site.
Photography
Photos are an important part of the communications ministry at Stanwich.
The Banner and the web site display pictures to highlight people
and events in the Stanwich community. If you have a camera, a steady hand
and a good eye for capturing moments through a lens, please consider
using your talents to support this important ministry.
Technology
In the 21st century technology has become an integral part of many ministries
at Stanwich. Volunteers with technical skills are needed to support the web site, operate audio-video equipment, and assist with computer operations.
Bookstore
The Stanwich bookstore provides educational and stimulating reading materials
related to the Christian faith. The selection includes books that are mentioned
by our pastors during worship services, materials that highlight God in daily living,
and an assortment of New International Version Bibles for personal and small
group studies. Volunteers are needed to review recommended books and tapes, monitor inventory and process orders.
Duke Laity
Stanwich is one of 15 congregations in the United States involved in the Duke Divinity School’s summer intern program. Each year a Duke student spends the summer at Stanwich, receiving mentoring by the pastors and benefiting from involvement in a variety of our ministries, ranging from youth activities to missions.
Volunteers work with the program coordinators and also provide housing and other assistance to the intern.
Lay Ministry
The Lay Ministry team equips, empowers and encourages each member of the Stanwich family to discover and fulfill his or her place of service and ministry within the body of Christ. The team delivers frequent Discovery Seminars and individual consultations designed to help members understand how and why God calls us
to serve each other, how He equips us for that task, and how to recognize and affirm the calling and gifts of others. The team also supports other Stanwich ministries and leaders.
Tres Dias
This ministry hosts three-day retreats for renewal among Christians. Those attending study together, communicate with one another to gain a permanent
living awareness of their faith, and discuss the responsibility that such a deep awareness involves. Sessions are held separately for men and women.
To volunteer or obtain more information, please contact the church office or one
of our ministry leaders.
