“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty

and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and

you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me,

I was sick and you looked

after me, I was in prison and

you came to visit me.”

Matthew 25:35-36

SERVING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

Alegria

During the fall and spring Stanwich offers a program called Alegria, which teaches English to non-English speaking adults to help them be better prepared for interacting in American culture.

Children’s Village

This facility, located in Dobbs Ferry, New York, is home to over 300 boys ages 5-18 who cannot remain in their normal family homes.  Stanwich youth visit the children and engage in games, singing and other fun activities.

Kairos

This mission, which means “In God’s Time”, brings Christ’s love and forgiveness to incarcerated individuals and their families, and assists prisoners to become productive citizens.

Midnight Run

Stanwich volunteers travel to New York City to provide clothing, food, toiletries and, most importantly, care and concern to the homeless.  The entire congregation contributes items for the project.  The Midnight Run

organization assembles the homeless at pre-determined locations

so that our group can serve them.

Neighbor to Neighbor

Stanwich organizes donations of food and clothing for this local organization in Greenwich, and sends a group of volunteers to help out in the thrift shop several times during the year.

New Covenant House

Stanwich provides lunch and fellowship to the residents of this homeless shelter in Stamford several times during the year.

Pilgrim Tower

At this senior residence in Stamford, a representative from Stanwich meets weekly with residents for Bible study and discussion.

Pivot

On the Sunday before Thanksgiving each year Stanwich invites the men

of Pivot, an addiction rehabilitation program in Norwalk and Bridgeport,

for worship followed by a turkey dinner.  The congregation also donates

a month's supply of groceries for the men to take back to Pivot House.

World Vision Storehouse

Stanwich high school students travel to the South Bronx in New York to volunteer at this community resource center which provides basic supplies such as clothing, school supplies and building materials to revitalize neighborhoods and sustain families as they break out of poverty into a

hope-filled future.

Youth Ministries

Many members of Stanwich are involved in leadership roles in Young Life, Wyldlife, FOCUS and other Christian organizations that support and disciple teens.

Other

Many Stanwich members serve the local community by giving their time,

talent and resources to sustain and develop numerous local ministries

that provide for the poor, promote the welfare of children and the elderly,

protect the environment, protect the abused and neglected, and uphold

justice for the oppressed.
