Preparing For Lent
Rev. Jason Pankau met with small group leaders to plan for this year’s Lenten small group study. The group focused on the multi-media series “Connecting in Christ – Together.”
The overarching theme, as described
by Rev. Neely Towe, is “to consecrate
us to minister from our new building.
It will be our search for coming together
in His Holy Word to turn the world upside down for Him.” All of our regular small groups and some new ones will study this subject during the six weeks of Lent, which begins with Ash Wednesday on March 1. Our custom is to encourage everyone to join a Lenten small group, and this year participation is especially important as we prepare to receive and share God’s blessing of our new church home.
Philip Yancey Visits Stanwich
Trinity Church held a retreat at Stanwich featuring Christian author Philip Yancey on March 24-25. Mr. Yancey, well known for so many books including "What's So Amazing About Grace" and "The Jesus I Never Knew", shared his extensive knowledge about the Bible in a series
of talks entitled The Big Picture. In these talks he gave an overview of the Old and New Testaments, and provided insight
as to the history of the times in which the various books were written. Also during the retreat the sanctuary rocked with praise songs led by Ian Cron, Sean Witty and Rob Mathes, just like the old days when they led the contemporary worship service at Stanwich prior to their "birth"
as Trinity Church.
