Stanwich Celebrates Super Sunday

Stanwich Church Super Sunday

On September 17 Stanwich celebrated "Super Sunday", which featured a combined worship service followed by a ministry fair and all-church picnic.  During the service, Rev. Neely Towe led the congregation in a prayer to commission them for service to God during the upcoming year, and then gave an inspiring sermon entitled "He Led Them Up a High Mountain".

After the service, the congregation gathered in Emmaus Hall for the ministry fair.  Beneath signs hand-painted by Marion Loizeaux, ministry leaders displayed photos and information about all of the exciting things happening at Stanwich and ways to get involved.  Many of the displays were quite creative:

-Hospitality chair Christa Hartch dressed in an apron and served appetizers

-Barbara Dalto offered homemade chili at her local missions table to illustrate feeding the homeless at New Covenant House in Stamford

  - Scott Greenlee erected a wooden display board with lumber to depict the construction projects of the West Virginia mission trip

  - at the Children's table Anitta Tilly had a slideshow presentation and 8x10 glossy photos of the beautiful children at Stanwich, and gave out bracelets and water bottles with the children's theme 'Stanwich Rocks!"

Super Sunday (continued)

Stanwich Church Super Sunday

After the ministry fair, it was time to eat!  Mark McDivitt led a team of expert barbecuers to cook over a hundred pounds of marinated chicken.  Along with homemade salads and desserts provided by many volunteers, the picnic was a delicious feast.

Then Charlie Caviola's voice boomed in the megaphone that it was time for the games to begin!  The children squealed with delight in the bounce houses, and kids of all ages joined in the fun and games.

Thanks to God for a beautiful sunny day and for all of the ways He is blessing Stanwich, and to the multitude of volunteers who made Super Sunday truly super.

Stanwich MOPS

   Stanwich MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

began the fall season with a 4-part series entitled "Parenting with Love and Logic...Kids Don't Come with an Owner's Manual".  While moms enjoyed refreshments, discussions, and community with other moms, their children were well cared for under the leadership of Music Together instructor Chris Burlingame.

Stanwich MOPS meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month.  To learn more about Stanwich MOPS, please click here
