HANDEL'S MESSIAH AT STANWICH

   The Christmas portion of Messiah, the great classic by legendary composer George Frederic Handel, was presented to a full house in the Stanwich sanctuary on Saturday , December 8.  Director of Music Randall Atcheson led the choir, guests soloists and chamber orchestra while also accompanying on the piano.  After the choir culminated the performance with the joyous Hallelujah! chorus, the congregation joined in singing Hark! the Herald Angels Sing, and then received a benediction from

the Rev. Chuck Davis.  Afterwards, Stanwich hosted a Christmas tea reception in Emmaus Hall.  Thanks

to all of the musicians, volunteers, and everyone who attended for making this

a wonderful way to celebrate the joys of the Christmas season and God's amazing grace.  View photos

AN EVENING WITH ERIC METAXAS

    Eric Metaxas is the author of the acclaimed biography, Amazing Grace:  William Wilburforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery, which became the "official companion book"

to the feature film of the same name.  The book hit #23 on the New York Times Bestseller List. 

   On Saturday, December 1, Stanwich welcomed Eric for a special screening

of the film in the sanctuary, followed by

a reception in Emmaus Hall where he was guest speaker.  Thanks to everyone who volunteered behind the scenes to make this very special evening such a success.

RECORD YEAR FOR OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

  Operation Christmas Child reached a new record of participation at Stanwich this year, with 688 shoeboxes filled with toys and treats donated by our congregation.  The Gustin, Jayes and Sharp families, who coordinated the project, want to thank everyone for their generosity which led to surpassing last year's 599 boxes.  Through your generosity, more children in impoverished areas throughout the world will have the joy of opening gifts and learning about God's love at Christmas.
