SERVICE OF

BAPTISM AND REDEDICATION

The historical church has traditionally practiced several types of water baptism.  One of the practices is called “immersion” baptism.  It is the rite practiced in enough standing water, where the baptized person is immersed completely under

the water.  This is often practiced by people who enter into relationship with Jesus as an adult and who have not

been a part of an overtly Christ-following community as a child.  Adults who were baptized as children also take part in an immersion ritual as a statement of rededication.  This is not a re-baptism

but a new rite of dedication.  Rev. Joan Osgood experienced this type of rededication ritual while visiting the Holy Land.

Rev. Chuck Davis held special classes for Stanwich members who were interested in participating in this ritual.  The Frantz family generously offered the use of their property on the coast of Greenwich for this special baptismal and rededication service, which was held on August 4.

EVENSONG RISING CONCERT

Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien was packed on Saturday night, June 2,

for the Rising Homecoming event.

Music by the Evensong Rising band

and others were featured at this concert

of spiritual awakening and humanitarian activism.  Proceeds from the event benefitted World Relief.

SUMMER MISSION TRIPS

Stanwich sent over 40 volunteers on

two summer mission trips to Russia and West Virginia, which have become an annual tradition at Stanwich.  The Russia group traveled to Sortavala to lead a Vacation Bible School for over 400 students.  The West Virginia group helped with several structural improvement projects and also led a Vacation Bible School for children in the impoverished community of Philippi.

FAREWELL TO REV. JASON PANKAU

The congregation gathered in Emmaus Hall on Friday, June 8 for a farewell celebration for Rev. Jason Pankau.

After six years of serving as associate

pastor at Stanwich, Jason is leaving to become director of LifeSpring Network,

a Christian training and discipleship ministry.  Jason and his family will

continue to be part of the Stanwich

family as members of the congregation.  Please pray for Jason and his family as

they step out in faith to serve God in new

and exciting ways.  For more information about LifeSpring Network, visit their website at lifespringnetwork.org.
