VOLUNTEER TODAY
Our new church building and expanding ministries have increased our need for volunteers. Stanwich has many opportunities to serve, but the list below is
especially urgent, either due to a shortage of people or to a special event. Please
contact the coordinator listed or send an email to volunteer or for more information.
- Sunday School teachers, helpers and substitutes for pre-K through 6th grade. Classes are held on Sundays during all three worship services, so you can choose whichever service time is convenient for you. If you love children and can commit to an hour a week to be a teacher or helper, or if
you can be available to substitute for a teacher when needed, please contact Anitta Tilly at 661-4420.
- Ushers for all 3 Sunday services.
Volunteers join a team that serves at the same worship service time approximately 5-6 times per year. Training is provided.
Coordinator: Gordon Mackenzie
- Greeters for all services, especially at 5:30 Evensong service. If you are able to arrive 15 minutes before the service and know how to smile and say "Welcome!", you're perfect for this important role. Sign up at the Welcome Center in Emmaus Hall, or contact one of the coordinators.
Coordinators: Debbie Reynolds for morning services
Sharon Reekstin for Evensong
- Hospitality volunteers for all 3 Sunday services.
Volunteers join a team that serves at the same worship service time on a rotating basis in one of several roles:
- Pew shepherds notice new people sitting in their area of the sanctuary, greet them at the end of the service, and invite them to coffee hour.
- Coffee hour shepherds staff the Welcome Center in Emmaus Hall to provide visitors with information about Stanwich, and to introduce them to other Stanwich members.
- Coffee hour hosts organize the coffee hours held in Emmaus Hall after each service. Responsibilities include providing food and setting it out before each service, and cleaning up afterwards. The church will reimburse hosts for food purchases if requested.
Coordinators: open for morning services
Mary Beth Gilbert for Evensong
- Bread ministry volunteers are needed to bake bread for first-time visitors
to Stanwich. If you're not a baker, you can also help out by delivering the bread. You can volunteer for whatever times fit in your schedule. Please help Stanwich share the Good News that Jesus is the Bread of Life.
- Technology/Computer volunteers with html, javascript, or other web experience are needed to provide technical expertise on short-term
projects for enhancing the Stanwich web site.
For other ways you could help, please check out the Ministries pages.
Your service will not only help the church, but also will give you an opportunity to
grow in your faith and to experience tremendous joy as you help others.
