CHILDREN 5-12
Children are not only the future leaders of God’s kingdom, but they also are God’s precious treasure to us. Our goal is to provide a fun and joyful place for children to experience God’s love and learn what it means to follow Jesus.
Below is a brief description of children's programs and activities at Stanwich.
For more information or to sign up for any of our children's program, please visit
our children's ministry website Stanwich Rocks!, or contact Director of Children's Ministries Anitta Tilly.
Sunday School
Stanwich Sunday School, which is held during all three Sunday worship services, teaches Bible lessons in fun and memorable ways.
Junior Sermon
Children from kindergarten through 6th grade attend the beginning of worship service with their families, and then are invited up to the front of the sanctuary to listen to a
junior “sermon”. The sermon lasts just a few minutes and presents a wonderful
nugget of truth that the children can understand. Adults enjoy this part of the service
as much as the children! After the junior sermon the children leave the sanctuary and are led to Sunday School.
Vacation Bible School
During the last week in June children are invited to participate in Stanwich’s
Vacation Bible School. From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 the children enjoy Bible
lessons, crafts, singing, refreshments and other activities. This year's theme
is Crocodile Dock: Where fearless kids shine God's light.

Creative Team
In Creative Team children learn how their special talents can be used as a form of worship. The children meet weekly for music, dance and drama, and they perform special presentations for the congregation during worship services throughout the
year.
Serving
Children love to help, and at Stanwich they learn how they can serve Christ by
helping at church. With an adult mentor, children can be greeters, Scripture readers, coffee hour helpers, and junior ushers. They can also visit and bring Christ's love to people who are homebound.
Special Events
Christmas Pageant – children take a break from traditional Sunday School
during the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas to learn Christmas
carols and the story of Jesus’ birth for the annual Christmas Pageant. Every
child plays a part in this very special event.
Hark the Herald Angel – in addition to the traditional Christmas Pageant,
children can participate in this special holiday musical drama. They enjoy
fun, friendship and faith as they rehearse for several months in preparation for
the performances in December.
Just for Fun– throughout the year children and their families are invited to
participate in many fun events such as Game Night Halloween alternative,
Easter party, movie night, nature walks, and talent show.
